The Tao of Painting

The Majestic Unknown
PAINTINGS BY YEAR
I have come to the realization that all of my paintings are self portraits!
My paintings are not pictures of objects, they are themselves the objects.
Sometimes, I get depressed that my paintings are ignored by the art world.
When I am painting I am so preoccupied
I am not aware of going-on around me. Suddenly, I become aware and see excited butterflies circle and land on the painting.
I notice nearby birds sitting on low branches silently watching, the mama deer and her twin fawns nervously watching while
snacking on clover, and Zeek the neighborhood cat comes over checking things out and laying down to watch. I realize that
I am one with nature and my art is being appreciated. What more can I ask.
"What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and
serenity, devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter, an art which
might be for every mental worker, be he businessman or writer, like an appeasing influence, like a mental soother, something
like a good armchair in which to rest from physical fatigue"......Henri Matisse
