Artists Comment:
This is the first of a series of paintings that represent my attempt to move
beyond Pollock. Actually, I was intending to make another Pollock look-alike.
I started with an expressionistic background and then begin the drip method
of applying line. After the first few lines, I looked at the painting and decided
that I could not do anything more to enhance it. When you zoom in on a Pollock,
you see a maze of interesting overlapping lines. When you zoom in on my painting
you see restrained overlapping lines, but you also see the interaction of the
underlying colors that are gorgeous. I made no conscious effort to produce these
and it was the will of the paint. It seems that as an artist I am merely a facilitator.
I provide the atmosphere, paints, and introduce them to each other and they
form the picture move around the painting and add the lines and a few accents
and the painting is done..

This is a detail of the upper center. I never get tired of looking at this. It just can not be done by the conscious effort of man. I have never seen this level of beauty in a Pollock.
