Acrylic Silathane 2 (48 X 64) Inches
Artists Comment:
This is the largest painting that I have ever done. This is a continuation of
my desire to move beyond Pollock. While I started this painting using the Pollock
technique, from the start I was determined to produce something other than a
Pollock look-alike. The painting started with a network of overlapping and intermingled
lines, I started to pour on large areas of pure color. These were worked so
that they flowed together. I work with the painting flat. That way I can move
around all four sides of the painting. It is not signed on the front, to give
flexibility in hanging. I am still undecided as to whether I should add more
line to contrast against the organic color shapes.

This is a detail of the upper center. See how the paints combined together (rivers of color). I love the way the paints speak and assert themselves. It is impossible for a human hand to produce these results. As an artist, I position and lay down lines and colors according to art principles. But it is the paints that speak and assert themselves to produce a painting that is more beautiful than any painting in which a human interferes.
