Artists Comment:
On Saturdays, we would go around the city of Naples, Florida to sketch places
of interest. On this particular day we went to a church on County Barn Road.
While there, I noticed the name plates on the locked doors descriptive of
the church hierarchy. There was also a church directory that met you at the
front door. Everything was very well organized. At the front entry, there
was a fish pond containing Koi. I was wondering at the time if spirituality
was improved by all the organization I was seeing. It seems to me that
spirituality is a one-on-one thing and should not need all this organization
and the breaking down of faith into little specialized pieces. I know many
people, that can not see the forest because of the trees. Are we like the
fish in the pond. Do we swim around mindlessly waiting for someone in the
organization to feed us information that we are supposed to fit togeather
to see the big picture. Do we get so involved in the bits and pieces, that
we do not see the big picture called spirituality.
