Distant Mountain Range

Acrylic (24 X 32) Inches

Artists Comment:
I like to experiment with different materials to make the painting surface. Paul Klee was a great experimental artist. For this picture, I used plaster on MDO board for the painting surface. Plaster is very absorbent, so I had to seal it before painting. I am a great admirer of Minimalism as you probably seen on some of my other pictures. I plan to try a Color Field picture in the future.

Detail of Above Picture

The mountain range is merely the shape that the plaster took while I was working it. I applied the plaster roughly for texture. I split the picture surface 1/3 and 2/3 for interest. I added color for land and sky. Color for the mountain range was mixed into the plaster. I want to say that I do not adhere to local colors. I select colors that I like and think work with the composition. I hardly ever, ever use local color in my paintings.
