"Pablito"

Acrylic (24 X 32) Inches

Artists Comment:
I have been studying Pablo Picasso.  His mistress had a daughter named Kathy.  Pablo adored her and loved to play games with her.  He would dress up in outrageous costumes and perform or sing to her.  By this time,  Picasso had become famous, and no-one would dare call him "Pablo".  However, Kathy would teasingly call him "Pablito" and he loved it!  I think this adoration comes through in this painting.

Detail of Large Picture

This is a detail of Kathy's head.  It probably doesn't look like her since I had little to go on.  It doesn't matter though, because when I paint I have to be true to the shapes the materials are sugesting.  When I try to force my intellect,  the painting suffers.  When I  submit to and am "one" with the materials the painting is much more real and has greater meaning.
