Watercolor (16X 23)"
Artists Comment:
This painting was done classically in watercolor. I first made a quick thumbnail
sketch using the principals described by Betty Edwards in her book (see "about
the artist"). While it is realistic, I think it shows emotion. There is an
interesting story that goes with this painting. I was having a little
trouble painting the pelican in the area of his eye, so I took my binoculars
down to the docks and observed a pelican that was situated between me and
the swimming pool. While I was peering through the binoculars, someone
tapped me on the shoulder and asked, "Are you looking at the girls at the
pool?". Sure enough, the girls were right in my field of vision.
What an embarrassment!
