Artists Comment:
This painting consists of sign shapes having no specific meaning. Tissue paper
glued to Masonite creates background texture. I tried to create interesting
interlocking shapes. Of course the balance of shape types, color and value played
an important role. This painting makes me think of ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs.

This is a detail of the lower center of the picture. I like to add little jewels of color such as the Phthalo Blue spot near the center of the detail. On some of my other paintings I used small glass beads for these jewels. Sometimes I use a little dab of Phthalo Blue near a small dab of Phthalo Green. The high chromatic properties of these two colors sing when placed near each other. I continue to look for colors that I can use like this. Maybe some day I will be able to create a song from these voices.
